Jan 21 - Snorkeling at Playa La Entrega and delicious meals

Mary and I woke up early to walk up the hill and see the sun rise. It was a bit clowdy.

We had delicious "huevos a la ranchera" for breakfast. After that Mary decided to stay at the villa to later walk again to playa "Punta Arena". The rest of us took a taxi to "Playa La Entrega" to go snorkeling, which was great.

Rebeca had some "taquitos" for lunch, which we ate around the pool.

We spent the rest of the afternoon & evening at the villa.

Dinner was spectacular: lobster, steak, shrimp with two sauces to choose from, rice, salad, baked potatos, and garlic-toasted bread.

Jan 20 - Playa Arena, lunch at the Villa & dinner in town

After we had delicious "enmoladas" for breakfast we walked to Playa Arena. Mary ran on the beach and I tried a little snorkeling. We caught and filmed a few crabs and Mary picked some more little shells.

Rebeca made some burritos for lunch. We walked to another vila, Flor de Mar, and took a tour of the beautiful place.

In the evening we all went to town, walked through the stores and had dinner at "Sabor de Oaxaca". We ordered the "Oaxacan" variety platter with two different kinds of mole sauces. Later on we walked to Hemingway Cantina where we listened to the cuban-music band and enjoyed mojitos, pina coladas and beer.

Jan 19 - Boys go Fishing!

It's Wednesday and we had arranged Jesus to pick us up and take us to the marina. He picked us up at 7:00 AM and by 7:30 we left.

Jesus setup the bait and put up 5 poles with different types of baits.

We saw several orcas (killer whales) going after manta rays. The rays would jump over the water. Throughout the whole trip we spotted many turtles and flying fish.

After a few beers and 8 hours we didn't catch anything.

Kelley in the meantime went to deliver donations she brought from the US to a local school. Mary & Cindy stayed around the villa.

Jan 18 - Day by the pool & beef/ribs for dinner

Today Mary & I spent most of the day around the pool and walked through the neiborghood. The Laesches and Giles went to the beach and experienced mud baths.

We socialized with the two Canadian couples that share the villa with us. Hugo served us "Guanabana" (soursop: large spiny tropical fruit with tart pulp related to custard apples)

In the evening we all went to "La Finca de los Vaqueros" a restaurant specialized in ribs and beef . Duncan finished off with a shot of Mezcal(distilled alcoholic beverage made from the maguey).

Monday January 17 - Snorkeling, Fishing & Boating

Today we went with "Mario" our tour guide. We went to the marina and started our boat trip. After a few "cervezas" we threw a couple of fishing lines and within 10 minutes we caught 3 "bonitos", fish in the tuna family. We snorkeled in a couple of places and had lunch under a "palapa". We had a large red snapper, enough to feed the 6 of us. We saw whales and sea turtles in the way. By the coast there was a nature-made rock formation looking like a man and we also saw the blow-holes, that spray water and air when the waves hit the coast.
The evening ended with mole chicken, grasshoppers and Negra Modelo beers!

First Day in Huatulco

Mary took some nice pictures of the morning sun. Rebeca prepared a delicious breakfast.

Mary and I walked to the nearby beach, Tejoncito

Rebeca made tlayudas for lunch, which are large crisp homemade tortillas, a staple from the state of Oaxaca.

Later on Kelley, Mary & I walked to Playa Arena. This large beach only had a couple there.
